Saw “good and devout clergy harassed, oppressed, imprisoned,” many future martyrs; persecution by the “secret sect” succeeds in nearly destroying the Church. Woman with child Mary/Church appears, followed by a “man on a white horse” Great Monarch?, enemies are routed, Church is rebuilt more magnificent than before.

Saw Church in great danger, urged prayer “so that the Pope may not leave Rome” as “great devastation is near at hand if he does; Protestant and schismatic doctrines will spread, clergy will be deceived, almost no true Christians remain, devastation follows.”

Vision of the Apocalyptic Woman Mary/Church with child the Church, Beast attacks but flees in confusion, a man on a white horse appears as liberator possible allusion to the Great Monarch or final deliverer of the Church.

I saw two popes. One true, old and weakened, suffering in exile. The other false, young and energetic, surrounded by admirers. The false church was large and popular. The true Church small and persecuted. But the true Church prevailed.
