Italian nun beatified in 1959, known as the 'Apostle of the Holy Spirit'. She founded the Oblate Sisters of the Holy Spirit and wrote a series of letters to Pope Leo XIII urging him to promote devotion to the Holy Spirit. The Pope listened and issued the encyclical Divinum Illud Munus (1897). She prophesied a coming Age of the Holy Spirit that would renew the Church and the world.

The Church Renewed Through the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit will renew the face of the earth. Old structures will fall away and new ones will arise. Religious life will be transformed. The laity will take on a new and active role in the mission of the Church. This renewal will come not from human effort but from the power of the Spirit.
