Swiss nun and martyr of the French Revolution, beatified in 1926. Before her execution by revolutionary forces, she prophesied that the persecution of the Church would not last and that a great renewal would follow. Her prophecy was fulfilled as the Church survived the revolution and experienced a spiritual revival in the 19th century.

This persecution will not last forever. The blood we shed today will become the seed of a new Church. She will rise from the ashes stronger and more beautiful than before. The revolutionaries who destroy her today will themselves be destroyed, but the Church will endure until the end of time.
