Four children — Eugène Barbedette (12), Joseph Barbedette (10), Françoise Richer (11), and Jeanne-Marie Lebossé (9) — who witnessed an apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary on January 17, 1871 in Pontmain, Normandy, during the Franco-Prussian War. A message appeared in the sky: 'But pray, my children. God will hear you in a short time.' That same night, the Prussian army halted its advance. The apparition was approved by the bishop in 1872.
