The Lord has given a command concerning Nineveh: You will have no descendants to bear your name. The river gates are thrown open and the palace collapses. Nineveh is laid waste — who will mourn for her? She will be completely destroyed, and no trace of her will remain.

Reality: Nineveh, capital of the Assyrian Empire, fell in 612 BC when a coalition of Babylonians and Medes attacked. A flood breached the river walls, exactly as prophesied. The city was lost for 2,500 years until rediscovered in 1847.
