The Antichrist's Deception and False Miracles

The deceiver shall fashion himself to appear like the Son of God. He shall give himself out as God and set himself up as a temple of God, showing himself that he is God. He shall work great signs and terrible wonders, false wonders and not real ones, in order to deceive. He shall make fire come down from heaven, cause the sun to become dark, and the moon to give a bloody hue.
The wicked serpent shall be born of a woman of the tribe of Dan. He shall grow up in secret and shall ascend the throne at the age of manhood. He shall feign great piety and holiness, and shall deceive many by his show of virtue. He shall make an alliance with the Jewish nation and shall rebuild the Temple in Jerusalem, claiming to be the Messiah whom they await.
When the Antichrist has established his power, the faithful must flee from the cities and hide in mountains and caves. They shall endure great suffering and many shall perish from hunger and thirst. The seas shall be closed and the roads guarded so that none may escape. For three and a half years the tyrant shall reign and the earth shall groan under his terrible dominion until the Lord comes to destroy him.
