St. Margaret Mary Alacoque was a French Visitation nun who received extraordinary visions of the Sacred Heart of Jesus between 1673 and 1675 in Paray-le-Monial, France. Jesus revealed to her the devotion to the Sacred Heart, including the First Fridays practice and the Feast of the Sacred Heart. She transmitted the message that France should be consecrated to the Sacred Heart — a request ignored by King Louis XIV. Exactly 100 years later, the French Revolution began. Canonized in 1920.
