St Francis of Paola

In seven letters, he speaks of the coming of the Great King and the "Holy Militia of God," a new order of cross-bearers. He foretells the destruction of heresy, the conversion of pagans, the restoration of the Church, and world peace. He prophesied that the leader of this army would be of the blood of French and Roman emperors, infamous in his youth but later a saint and restorer of Christendom.

He foretold "great punishments" for the world because of the sins of rulers and Church leaders, destroyed cities, victories of unbelievers, but also a final divine intervention through "holy crusaders" — a chosen leader guides the Church to triumph and peace, unbelievers are converted, and the world is transformed.
