Therese Neumann

1898 – 1962 · Germany catholic · Stigmatist, Mystic
Church Approved

Bavarian Catholic stigmatist from Konnersreuth, one of the most famous mystics of the 20th century. Blinded and paralyzed in 1918, miraculously healed in 1925. She bore the stigmata from 1926, bleeding every Friday especially on Good Fridays. For 36 years she consumed nothing but the Eucharist — medically documented under observation. She spoke Aramaic during ecstasies depicting Christ's Passion, a language she never learned. Hitler feared her popularity. Her cause for beatification was opened in 2005.

The Martyrdom of Fr. Petar Perica
1938 AD — Konnersreuth, Germany
Fulfilled
To the Croatian Jesuit priest Fr. Petar Perica (1881–1944), poet and author of the famous Marian hymn 'Zdravo Djevo, Kraljice Hrvata' (Hail Virgin, Queen of Croats), Therese Neumann prophesied during his medical treatment in Germany: 'You will die a martyr's death.' The prophecy was tragically fulfilled on October 24, 1944, when Communist Partisan forces arrested Fr. Perica without trial along with approximately fifty other civilians and priests from Dubrovnik. They were taken to the islet of Daksa, where they were tortured, executed, and thrown into a common pit. Fr. Perica reportedly went to his death singing 'Tebe, Boga, hvalimo' (Te Deum). His cause for beatification as a martyr of communism has been opened.

Croatia Will Be Free and Independent by the End of the Century
1938 AD — Konnersreuth, Germany

To Fr. Petar Perica, Therese Neumann also prophesied: 'Croatia will be free and independent by the end of this century.' At the time of this prophecy (late 1930s), Croatia was part of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, later to be absorbed into communist Yugoslavia after World War II. The prophecy was fulfilled on June 25, 1991, when Croatia declared independence — exactly at the end of the 20th century, after decades of communist repression and through the sacrifices of the Homeland War (1991-1995).

Croatia Will Be the Backbone of Europe
1938 AD — Konnersreuth, Germany
Partial
The third prophecy given to Fr. Petar Perica was about Croatia's future mission: 'Croatia will be the backbone of Europe.' According to Don Josip Mužić, this prophecy is still being fulfilled. Croatia — a small nation that maintained its Catholic faith through centuries of Ottoman threats, Habsburg rule, and communist persecution — is called to be a defender of Christian civilization in a secularizing Europe. Croatia's role as a frontier nation between East and West, and its fidelity to the Catholic Church, are seen as signs of this prophecy's ongoing fulfillment.
